if you could include a chact client
so the reseptionist can send a txt msg to a user "please call the wife"

I see two ways this can be implementet
one the at local chat system "only between voix clients SoftPhone/Manager/Chat"
the other is that it support a more clients (msn/icq/jabba/..)

Yes is a good idea and is in the tasks, I will add this feature as soon be possible.

In the in the meantime you can call the voicemail to live the messages.
